Success and frustration....

Desire is the key to motivation, but it's the determination and commitment
to an unrelenting pursuit of our goal, a commitment to excellence, that
will enable us to attain the success that we seek.

I saw this on a sign in Barnes & Noble yesterday and it really spoke to me. Then I really needed to remember it this morning.
I decided that I needed to teach Surf a new trick to remind him how he learns and how I teach. I chose to teach him to back up when I say "beep beep". Well it's not going so well
. He is barking like mad at me, has no patience, just offers behaviors he knows, and when I do mark what I want he is not 'getting' it and just goes back to barking at me. So frustrated. It is going to take an unrelenting pursuit for sure!

Then my good as gold puppy decided to take matters into his own paws and self reinforce with the antipasto salad that was on the table during our football party on Sunday. Right in front of me! I didn't even process what was happening till his face was in the dish. I still can't believe he jumped from the floor onto the table. That's 30 vertical inches. Well, I knew he was built for agility <grin>.

I think he may be entering his terrible two's right before his 3rd birthday, go figure. " unrelenting pursuit, a commitment to excellence" will be my mantra for the next few weeks. I actually entered two shows for February and they are sneaking up fast. I was hoping this would keep me from getting to lazy over the winter and that maybe I could finish up our FAST open title before spring. Ex A here we come ready or not.
